Choosing the right path forward for breast reconstruction, deciding between implants and the DIEP flap, was one of the hardest and most significant decisions I have ever faced. I was very scared and nervous about the DIEP flap in particular. It is a major surgery, and I had real concerns about the surgery itself, the length of recovery, and what the healing process would truly be like. Dr. Yau was honest and very clear with me from the beginning. When discussing the DIEP flap, she told me that if I chose that route, I needed to be “all in” on the decision. At the time, that statement really stayed with me, and now, having gone through the experience, I completely understand why she said it. It is not the easiest procedure to go through, but it was absolutely worth it. From our very first meeting, Dr. Yau took the time to explain every option thoroughly, answered all of my questions, and never rushed or minimized my concerns. Her calm, knowledgeable, and compassionate approach helped me feel safe and supported during one of the most vulnerable periods of my life. Throughout my breast reconstruction using the DIEP flap following a mastectomy, Dr. Yau and her entire team provided exceptional care. The support before, during, and after surgery was outstanding. Just seven weeks post-surgery, my incisions on both the abdomen and breast were minimal, very thin, and now at 12 weeks post-surgery there has been a substantial improvement and I know that with time they will continue to fade and become even less noticeable. The results look natural and beautifully done, and beyond the physical outcome, the reconstruction has helped restore a sense of wholeness and confidence that I wasn’t sure I would ever feel again. I have had 3 surgeries performed by Dr. Yau. I can tell you that she is always professional but also has a warm welcoming demeanor. Dr. Yau was my surgeon for my breast reduction back in 2016. She did an amazing job and I healed quickly with minimum scarring. It is hard to put into words how grateful I am for having both Dr. Yau and Heather (RN) as my team for my breast reduction surgery. Dr. Yau is an incredible plastic surgeon. I went to see her to have reconstruction due to breast cancer. The mastectomy surgeon and Dr. Yau decided the best option would be to have the mastectomy and reconstruction. This eliminated my need for multiple surgeries. She is smart and serious in her work and she put my safety and health above all else. While patient consults are necessary to perform the surgery I could tell that her skills truly shine in the operating room as her true passion is surgery and she was absolutely meticulous in every aspect. My stitches were so tiny that right after surgery I could really see a desirable result despite needing to still have healing time. She was honest and prepared me for all aspects, even at times when I wasn't thrilled with the natural consequences of having breast cancer I really appreciated that she was upfront and in many ways almost seemed to take the stance of "under promise and over deliver". It felt like she really lowered my expectations pre surgery and made sure I understood that plastic surgery post mastectomy will never look like a simple implant surgery but in that way I was so pleasantly surprised. My reconstruction is perfect and it all really worked out. I am incredibly happy with the results. Her up front manner did help in the long run and her skills are truly incredible!!

I first met Dr. Yau back in 2017 when I was inquiring about a breast reduction after one of my best friends had an amazing experience with her. I'd undergone Periareolar three weeks ago which was an opportunity I never thought possible. Dr.Yau is straight to the point and is willing to communicate with you for what you want with your results which is appreciated. She cares about how I look almost as much as myself which is comforting. A touch hard to get in contact through her office during hours sometimes but was always seen in a timely manner. I'd say she's very skilled, efficient and knows what she's doing and I trust her.

I had the most amazing experience with Dr. Yau and her team, and I feel really lucky to have had her as my surgeon. The whole team is friendly, approachable and very professional. I had an abdominoplasty with muscle repair and lipo and my results are unbelievable. It is way more than I could ever have imagined with how my body looked post-pregnancy. Pre-op: I met with Dr. Yau and nurse Heather for a consultation, they went through the procedure with me, showed me examples of results and what I could expect from the surgery and what work they recommended to do for the best results. She also showed me how I have separation in my ab muscles, despite multiple health care providers telling me I didn’t, but I always felt something was off about how my abs felt. Dr. Yau is extremely thorough, and she doesn’t miss a thing! I was nervous about booking my appointment, but Michelle (receptionist) was so sweet and did not make me feel pressured at any time, she also got me all the info I needed to understand the recovery before I booked, and was able to book me for my preferred time! She is a joy to talk to. I had another pre-op appointment after I booked my surgery to review every aspect of surgery, pre-op & post-op diet recommendations, review bloodwork and discuss expectations for recovery with Heather. She also went over every question I had, she was so patient and happy to help make me feel better before surgery. They gave me so much information for all the procedures being performed, set me up with all medications I needed (which you pick up before surgery, not on the way home from surgery), so you are so well prepared for the big day. I felt so well taken care of! Surgery day: the entire surgical team was so amazing, they answered all my questions and made me feel like a VIP! The anesthesiologist also came to talk to me pre-surgery, and listened to my concerns about previous surgical experiences, and tweaked everything to ensure I would be comfortable. Dr. Yau reviewed my concerns with me and asked for my input on what I was hoping to see post-surgery. The team had me laughing and helped me relax before surgery. After surgery they made sure I was in good shape before sending me home, and the nurse even personally wheeled me down to the parkade to ensure I was safe and comfortable in my car for the way home. Post-op: Heather gets in touch with you the day after surgery to ensure you’re doing well. I was also shocked that I was able to contact Heather at any time to ask questions or check if my recovery was going ok. It was so comforting to be able to speak with her, she is so caring and you feel like the whole team is personally invested in your results and well-being. I had two post-op check ups at the clinic in the first two weeks, to monitor recovery and incision progress. At three weeks post-op, my results are something from a dream. My incisions are straight and seem so small now. The scar gel they give you for post op care is helping my healing so much. My belly button looks rounded and better than I could have imagined, Dr. Yau has a special technique that looks way better than anything else I have seen online, and I don’t have that obvious post-TT slit belly button. Overall, I am blown away with the level of care I have received at Dr. Yau’s office. I would recommended her to anyone and I would book with her again in a heartbeat! Thank you to the whole team!

I was quite depressed when I found that my right breast implant (from 30 years ago) had ruptured last year. As I am already in my sixties, I was contemplating whether or not to have it replaced. I was referred to Dr Yau to remove the recalled Allergan implants. During the time Michelle called me to book an appointment she was extremely helpful and polite when I asked about estimated costs, recovery time and a bunch of other questions I had. This was my first interaction with the clinic and it made me feel very comfortable and that I wasn't just another number and dollar sign. When I went for my initial consultation I made it clear to Heather and Dr Yau that my priority was to have the implants removed but that I also wanted a mastopexy but would be happy however they turned out as getting the implants out was most important. Dr Yau took me through options, explained everything to me, answered all my questions and we looked at pictures together. Never once did I feel pressurized to go with a certain option and when I chose my option I didn't feel judged, both Heather and Dr Yau were very supportive. Michelle, Heather and Dr Yau make the clinic very calm and welcoming and I definitely felt at ease throughout the process. On my surgery day I was very nervous and scared and Dr Yau and the doctors, nurses, anesthesiologists at the surgery facility were amazing. After my procedure I could contact Heather 24/7 and her response time was almost instant. During my follow ups Heather and Dr Yau were attentive and caring. I honestly had the best "personal" experience. Needless to say I was extremely happy with the results of my surgery too, my mastopexy came out amazing and much better than I would have ever thought. Having to go through this process was extremely stressful to me but how Michelle, Heather and Dr Yau interacted with me really made a difference. Dr Yau and her nurse, Heather, and medical office assistant, Michelle, are all so kind and truly give amazing patient care. I am a fellow health care worker (I’m an RN), and really value exceptional patient care. Dr Yau was very professional and kind in my initial consult, and truly respected and listened to what I wanted. I had breast implant removal and a lift. She did an amazing job. I’m so happy with my results. Dr Yau was so calm and kind, and put me at ease prior to my surgery, and made me feel very safe and secure in a stressful experience like surgery. Dr. Yau is an extremely professional surgeon who goes above & beyond for her patients! She was very clear on the results I should expect from my face & neck lift. She explained the procedure, the risks and was so patient in answering any questions I had. The day of surgery, I was totally relaxed in knowing I made the correct decision in choosing her. Let me just say I put my face in her incredibly skilled hands and she gave me MY face, just more youthful! I cannot express strongly enough how important that was for me. All the information was laid out so clearly there was no guesswork! She called me to make sure everything was going well, she was available for any questions and kept Dr. Yau apprised of my progress. I feel that they work so well together that my experience was just made that much more positive because the care extends beyond the OR & the office. I’ll also add that my husband remarked more than once how this whole experience was made so much better because of how well prepared we were and how having the support postoperatively made him feel so comfortable. Absolutely thrilled with my mastopexy results! After meticulously researching and consulting with two other surgeons, I finally found the one who truly listened to what I wanted—perkier, natural-looking breasts that fit my body shape and frame, similar to what I had prior to having kids. I have been contemplating an abdominoplasty for years and was too nervous to have a risky surgery for vanity. Dr. Yau has made my dream breasts come to life! Thank you Dr. Yau- you have changed my life. Since I can remember I dreamed of having breasts that were symmetrical and perky but would always tell myself that it wasn't in the cards for me and to be thankful for what god gave me. I spent all of my teens and twenties being extremely insecure about my breasts. Finding bras that fit properly was an impossible task that I gave up on years ago. I would just wear sports bras all the time because that's all that fit (I never felt sexy). Recently I was talking to my friend who was raving about her new breasts that she had done by Dr. Yau so I thought what the heck I'll just go for a consultation. I was WOWED to say the least when I walked into the clinic - the place is stunning, the coffee I had was incredible and the staff and nurses were so kind and helpful. Dr. Yau understood exactly the look I was going for and recommended a couple sizes for me to try on. I loved getting to try on the different implants to get a feel for what I liked. Facelift, neck lift, lip lift, fat transfer. Dr. Yau is a magician. Thoughtful, professional, and an expert, her technical skills were beyond what I had wished for. I feel so youthful and beautiful.
